BLOOMINGTON – Parks and Recreation will open Mills Pool, 1100 W. 14th St., on June 19, after stabilizing a significant leak discovered during preseason preparations.

The repairs done this spring are intended to allow the pool to operate safely through the 2026 season. However, Parks and Recreation cautions that the underlying issues affecting the facility have not been fully resolved.
“We are pleased to be able to welcome swimmers this summer,” said Tim Street, Parks and Recreation Department Director. “The repairs address the immediate concerns that prevented the pool from opening, but the pool’s plumbing and infrastructure continue to require attention.”
Staff discovered the leak while filling the pool for the season. Because much of the plumbing system is located beneath the pool deck, Parks and Recreation contracted with a leak detection firm to identify and attempt to isolate the source of the problem. The repairs completed this spring will allow the facility to operate, but additional investigation, planning, and construction work will be necessary after the pool closes for the season.
The Department expects to conduct a more comprehensive assessment of the pool’s infrastructure this fall to determine the scope of long-term repairs and future capital needs.

“We know the delayed opening has been frustrating for swimmers, families, and neighborhood residents who look forward to using Mills Pool,” said Street. “We appreciate the community’s patience while staff worked to identify the problem and make the repairs needed to safely reopen the facility.”
Mills Pool is open daily, weather permitting, beginning June 19 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Current hours of operation are available on the Splash & Skate Hotline at 812-349-3741.
Daily general admission to Mills Pool is $7 per person. Economy punch passes with 20 admissions are available for $100, and season passes are $90 for unlimited admission for one person during the 2026 season.
Pool admission fee waivers, supported in part by the Bloomington Parks Foundation, are available to qualifying children. Apply for a pool admission fee waiver, or call Parks and Recreation at 812-349-3700 for more information.
Admission to the pool on Saturday, July 4, is free.
Updates on Mills Pool and other projects and facilities will continue to be shared through the Parks and Recreation website and social media channels as additional information becomes available.
