WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Erin Houchin (IN-09) highlighted support from local leaders after the House passed the Fiscal Year 2027 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, which includes more than $3.1 million in Community Project Funding requests she submitted on behalf of communities across Indiana’s Ninth District.

The funding will support critical wastewater and stormwater infrastructure improvements in Switzerland County, Austin, Borden, and Greenville.
“I was proud to work alongside local leaders to secure funding for these important infrastructure projects,” said Rep. Houchin. “These investments will strengthen critical water and wastewater systems, support future growth, and improve the quality of life for residents across southern Indiana.”

“The City of Austin is grateful to Congresswoman Houchin for supporting a major investment in Austin’s infrastructure. This funding will help the city address critical stormwater needs, improve public safety, and reduce flooding concerns for residents and businesses. Projects like this are essential to protecting our community and ensuring reliable infrastructure for years to come.” — Chris Fugate, City of Austin Clerk-Treasurer

“The Town of Greenville is incredibly grateful to Congresswoman Houchin for selecting our sewer expansion project for funding. This investment will immensely help our town improve critical infrastructure, and we appreciate her continued advocacy and consideration for our community.” – Stephen Webb, Superintendent of Greenville Water

“Investing in our wastewater infrastructure is essential for the long-term success of our community. These improvements will enhance public services, support responsible growth, and position Borden for future opportunities while maintaining our commitment to protecting the environment and public health.” – Brenna LaDuke, Town of Borden Development Coordinator

“We thank Rep. Houchin for her support in seeking this federal investment into Switzerland County’s future. This request reflects her willingness to dig into what a small county actually needs — the building blocks that make workforce training and small business development possible here at home. Dollars from this appropriation request will fund a commercial kitchen, coworking space, and the infrastructure to support entrepreneurial growth and workforce training. It’s the kind of concrete, accountable use of federal dollars that rural communities rarely get to point to.” – Jon Bond, President of Economic Development, Switzerland County
The legislation now moves to the Senate for consideration. More information on these projects can be found here.
