Five pounds of methamphetamine seized in raid; Seymour man arrested

SEYMOUR A multi-agency narcotics raid on a Seymour residence on Tuesday morning led to the seizure of more than five pounds of methamphetamine and the arrest of a man on multiple felony charges.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the Seymour Police Department’s Narcotics and Detective Divisions executed a search warrant at a home located in the 700 block of Noble Street.

The operation was a collaborative effort, with Seymour officers assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the Bartholomew County Joint Narcotics Team (JNET), and federal agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

According to details released by the Seymour Police Department, investigators cleared the residence and uncovered a substantial cache of illegal contraband, including:

  • More than five pounds of methamphetamine
  • Quantities of marijuana
  • Numerous THC vape cartridges and THC-infused gummies
  • A handgun

Law enforcement officials estimated the total street value of the confiscated narcotics to be over $20,000.

Following the raid, authorities arrested Xander Cade Ault, 23, of Seymour. Records from the Jackson County Jail indicate he was booked into the facility at 11:26 a.m. on Tuesday and is currently being held without bond.

Ault faces several preliminary charges stemming from the investigation, including:

  • Dealing methamphetamine (Level 2 Felony)
  • Possession of methamphetamine with a prior conviction (Level 3 Felony)
  • Possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon (Level 4 Felony)
  • Neglect of a dependent (Level 6 Felony)
  • Maintaining a common nuisance (Level 6 Felony)
  • Dealing marijuana (Level 6 Felony)
  • Possession of marijuana (Level 6 Felony)

The investigation remains ongoing, and formal charges are pending review by the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.
