Gov. Braun highlights major blow to interstate drug networks by Southern Indiana State Police

SELLERSBURG Governor Mike Braun joined the Indiana State Police (ISP) in Sellersburg today to highlight a series of major public safety victories achieved across Southern Indiana during the first half of 2026.

Operations conducted over the last six months have successfully dismantled interstate drug trafficking networks, removed dozens of firearms from criminal hands, and led to nearly 100 arrests targeting violent offenders and narcotics dealers.

“Indiana State Police are going above and beyond to keep Hoosiers safe. This is clear when you take into account all that Troopers in Southern Indiana alone have accomplished just this year,” Gov. Braun said during the press conference. “These accomplishments show what happens when law enforcement has the support, resources, and leadership needed to do their jobs.”

By the Numbers: Six Months of Impact

ISP enforcement efforts in the region since January have yielded significant disruptions to regional criminal activity, including:

  • 84 total arrests connected to narcotics investigations and multi-agency operations.
  • More than 48 pounds of methamphetamine were seized.
  • 28+ firearms removed from the streets.
  • More than $50,000 in illicit cash recovered.

The operations heavily disrupted major drug pipelines funneling narcotics into Indiana from hub cities like Louisville, Cincinnati, and Phoenix.

State officials highlighted several specific, high-impact investigations that concluded or reached major milestones recently:

  • Operation Clocked Out: This multi-agency effort dismantled a major trafficking network moving methamphetamine and cocaine from Louisville and Cincinnati into Jefferson County, Indiana. The sweep resulted in 29 arrests spanning Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio.
  • Operation Iceberg: Targeting a direct Louisville-to-Indiana drug pipeline, this operation led to 25 arrests and culminated in a combined 251 years of Department of Corrections sentences ordered by the courts.
  • Phoenix-to-Vincennes Interdiction: Troopers intercepted a 10-pound shipment of methamphetamine tied directly to a narcotics pipeline running from Phoenix, Arizona, to Vincennes, Indiana.
  • Vanderburgh County Takedown: A raid on a heavily armed drug distribution network in Evansville netted 28 firearms, approximately $50,000 in illicit currency, 60 pounds of marijuana, and a large quantity of methamphetamine.

Governor Braun emphasized that these results underscore his administration’s commitment to providing law enforcement with the tools necessary to combat the influx of methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, and illegal firearms into Hoosier communities.

State police officials added that aggressive highway interdiction and collaborative operations with local and federal partners will remain a top priority through the remainder of the year.
