LAWRENCE COUNTY — Members of the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County’s Teen Center recently put their entrepreneurial and leadership skills to work by creating and selling specialty “dirty sodas” during concession operations at the Club’s Limestone Unit.

The teen-led project took place during Friday activities, giving participants the opportunity to prepare, market, and serve the popular flavored beverages to younger Club members. The unique concession offering proved to be a hit, with children eager to sample the creative drink combinations.

Beyond providing a fun treat, the activity served as a hands-on learning experience for Teen Center members. Participants worked together to organize the operation, prepare drinks, and interact with customers, helping them develop important life skills such as teamwork, responsibility, and customer service.
Club officials said projects like the dirty soda stand provide valuable opportunities for teens to gain real-world experience while building confidence and leadership abilities.
The event also helped strengthen relationships between different Club sites, allowing younger members to interact with Teen Center participants in a positive setting. Organizers noted that the experience showcased the growing leadership potential of the teens and their role as positive influences within the Club community.
The Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County offers a variety of programs designed to help young people develop academic, social, and leadership skills while providing a safe and supportive environment for growth. Activities such as the concessions project give teens practical opportunities to apply those skills while serving fellow Club members.
