Lawrence County Rock Club to host 61st Annual Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show Jun. 26-28

BEDFORD — Rockhounds, collectors, hobbyists, and families alike will have an opportunity to explore the world of geology and natural history later this month as the Lawrence County Rock Club hosts its 61st Annual Gem, Mineral, and Fossil Show at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds.

The three-day event will take place June 26-28 at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds, located at 11265 U.S. Highway 50 West in Bedford. Admission and parking are free.

Organizers say the show will feature more than 80 vendors offering a wide variety of gems, minerals, fossils, rocks, jewelry, lapidary supplies, prospecting equipment, and educational materials. Visitors can also browse items suitable for 4-H projects and science fair exhibits.

The annual event draws collectors and enthusiasts from across the region and provides opportunities for attendees of all ages to learn more about earth sciences and the hobby of rock collecting.

Experts will be available throughout the weekend to help identify rocks and minerals brought in by visitors. Food service will also be available on-site.

Approximately half of the vendors will be located inside an air-conditioned building, while the remaining exhibitors will be set up outdoors under canopies.

Show hours are 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 26; 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 27, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 28.

The event is a fun, educational, and engaging experience for visitors of all ages, whether they are longtime collectors or simply curious about the natural world.

Those traveling to the event can reach the fairgrounds by following Indiana State Road 37 south of Bedford, turning west onto U.S. Highway 50 at the Speedway gas station, and continuing approximately 0.6 miles before turning right into the fairgrounds.
