White River State Park to host drone show to celebrate America 250

INDIANAPOLIS – Two hundred drones will light up the sky above White River State Park at Star Spangled Sky presented by Purdue University, a free drone show event.

Star Spangled Sky will take place on Saturday, June 27, to kick off America 250 and Fourth of July celebrations in Indianapolis. The drone show will feature patriotic imagery and iconic elements of White River State Park, representing each of the park’s seven attractions.

“The park is thrilled to kick off America250 celebrations in Indianapolis with this new park event,” said John Moton, Executive Director of White River State Park. “Star Spangled Sky is the perfect addition to your Fourth of July celebrations.”

This event invites guests to spend an evening in the park enjoying the space, spending time with friends and family, and celebrating 250 years of our nation.

Star Spangled Sky is the perfect option for guests who wish to participate in patriotic festivities but are unable to enjoy fireworks for a variety of reasons, including sensory needs, PTSD, and more.

White River State Park is excited to partner with Purdue University in bringing this free event to the community.

Leading up to the drone launch, guests can purchase dinner or snacks from local food trucks and enjoy free activities including bounce houses, face painting, balloon artists, caricature artists, yard games, and more.

Activities will kick off at 7:00 pm. The drones will launch at dark and feature a 13-minute show over the White River. Star Spangled Sky will conclude after the drone show.  This event is free. RSVPs are encouraged but not required. Guests can RSVP at wrsp.in/droneshow.

Visitors are invited to make it a full day in the park and enjoy the many other events taking place, including Indian Market & Festival at the Eiteljorg Museum, America’s 250th Outdoor Summer Celebration at Indiana State Museum, Uncork Me Indiana in Military Park, and the Indianapolis Indians vs Scranton/WB RailRiders at Victory Field.
