Lawrence County Purdue Extension to host ‘CODE RED’ small business & agriculture contingency planning watch party

BEDFORD — Local business owners and agricultural producers looking to safeguard their operations against unexpected emergencies have a new resource coming to Lawrence County next month.

The Purdue Extension Lawrence County team announced it will host a community watch party for the upcoming webinar, “Securing the Future: CODE RED – Contingency Planning.”

The interactive workshop is designed specifically for farmers, agricultural operators, and small business owners who want to take a proactive approach to protecting their livelihoods. The curriculum focuses on building a “CODE RED” system—a comprehensive strategy that ensures a business can continue to run smoothly if the primary owner or manager faces any type of sudden incapacitation, illness, or emergency.

The event will combine a live broadcast with local networking and resource distribution.

  • Date: Monday, June 22, 2026
  • Time: 6:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Location: Purdue Extension Lawrence County Office, 924 16th Street, Bedford, IN 47421
  • Amenities: Light refreshments will be served to all attendees.

Free Tangible Tools for Attendees

To ensure local business owners leave with actionable tools, all registered participants will receive a digital copy of the official CODE RED Document System. The system will be provided on a complimentary USB flash drive, allowing owners to immediately begin plug-and-play contingency planning for their specific business structures.

For many small businesses and family farms, critical operational knowledge lives entirely in the head of a single manager. A contingency plan acts as an insurance policy for everyday operations, safeguarding employees, livestock, and assets during a crisis.

Pre-registration is strictly required to secure a seat, refreshments, and a USB drive. Business owners can sign up directly online through the official Purdue Extension Registration Portal.

For additional questions, registration assistance, or accommodations, community members can contact the Lawrence County Extension Office by phone at 812-275-4623 or via email at lodmell@purdue.edu to speak with Extension Director Lesley Lodmell.
