BNL golfers finish fourth in HHC

Hudson Martin paced BNL with an 80 during the HHC Tournament at St. Anne’s on Tuesday.

NORTH VERNON – Playing without one of its key contributors in the lineup, Bedford North Lawrence finished fourth in the Hoosier Hills Conference during boys high school golf action at St. Anne’s on Tuesday.

The Stars carded a team total of 342. New Albany won the title with 305, followed by Floyd Central (314) and Jennings County (330).

With Evan Tillett (who competes from the top of the five-man lineup) sidelined by a recent ankle injury, BNL was paced by Hudson Martin, who posted an 80. Parker Foddrill and Traeden Robinson added 86s, and Brayden Ohl capped the team scoring with 90.

”We got off to a good start but started leaking oil on the back nine,” BNL coach Trey Turner said. “We have to get better at limiting our big numbers, even when we don’t have our best stuff.

“We have some time to get tuned up before the sectional, so we need to use these two weeks to get better.”

New Albany’s Benton Hamilton was the medalist with a 1-over 73, while teammate Maddox Warren fired a 75. Floyd Central’s Reed Timmons and Bryson Wilson both carded 76s.

BNL will host Mitchell and West Washington at Otis Park on Thursday.
