Springville woman arrested on meth, marijuana charges after Bedford-area warrant service

BEDFORD – A Springville woman was arrested Thursday on multiple drug charges after Indiana State Police executed a warrant at a Bedford-area residence and allegedly discovered methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, according to an affidavit.

Rebecca Baker

Rebecca Lynn Baker, 28, was arrested May 14 on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony; possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

According to the affidavit filed by Indiana State Police Detective Caleb Garvin, Detectives Chance Humphrey, Zack Robbins, and Trooper Tyler Trueblood responded to a residence in Bedford while attempting to locate a wanted individual.

Investigators said Baker answered the door and appeared nervous when questioned about the subject of the warrant. Officers later learned the individual was inside the residence and located him in a bedroom, where he was taken into custody.

During the arrest, officers reported observing drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine in plain view, including a glass smoking device and a crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine, along with the odor of burnt marijuana.

Garvin later obtained a search warrant for part of the residence. During the search, investigators allegedly located multiple glass smoking devices, suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, a grinder, and hand-rolled cigarettes consistent with marijuana in the west bedroom area.

The affidavit states officers also located a purse-style bag containing suspected marijuana and paperwork belonging to Baker.

Baker was taken into custody and transported by Trooper Ben Burris to the Lawrence County Jail.

Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
