Seymour sweeps past BNL in HHC opener

BNL’s Forum Patel and the Stars fell to Seymour in the HHC Tournament on Monday.

SEYMOUR – Seymour advanced to the semifinal round of the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament with a 5-0 win over Bedford North Lawrence during girls high school tennis action on Monday.

The Owls will face Jeffersonville in the next round.

In singles, Gabby Cornn conquered Emma Conover 6-1, 6-3 at No.1, Kelsea Hunsley halted Elizabeth Miskuf 6-0, 6-4 at No.2, and Julia Hartang topped Bailey Fisher 6-1, 6-3 at No.3.

”Even though we started off a bit slow, I was proud of how we responded,” BNL coach Jennifer Edwards said. “We picked it up, made Seymour work harder for each point, and our singles players showed great consistency with some long rallies.”

In doubles, the Owls cruised as Macy Pifer and Rose Kruse defeated Jada Key and Forum Patel 6-0, 6-1 at No.1. Avery Williams and Audra Bush rolled past Claire Edwards and Emma Voris 6-0, 6-1 at No.2.

BNL (0-12) will face Columbus East in the consolation round on Wednesday.
