NHTSA issues new wave of vehicle recalls affecting passenger cars, rvs, and commercial fleets

INDIANA — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has released a comprehensive list of new vehicle recalls, ranging from critical mechanical failures in luxury sedans to safety hazards in recreational vehicles and commercial buses.

Automotive giants, including Mercedes-Benz, Tesla, and Chrysler, are among those affected by the latest safety alerts.

Major Passenger Vehicle Recalls

  • Mercedes-Benz: The manufacturer has issued a massive recall for various 2024–2026 models—including the C-Class, E-Class, GLC, and AMG variants—due to a software glitch that causes the instrument panel display to go blank. A separate recall affects the 2026 CLA 250 and 350 (EV) models, where front passenger seat belts may fail to fasten correctly.
  • Tesla: A significant number of Model 3, S, X, and Y vehicles (ranging from 2017 to 2023) are being recalled because the rearview camera image may fail to display, a violation of federal safety standards.
  • RAM/Chrysler: Owners of 2023–2026 RAM 2500 trucks are warned that the vehicles may be capable of exceeding the speed rating of their factory-installed tires, posing a blowout risk.
  • Toyota: The 2026 4Runner is under recall for incorrect load-carrying capacity labels, which could lead to unintentional overloading.

Recreational Vehicles (RVs) and Vans

  • Grand Design RV: The 2025–2026 Lineage models face two distinct recalls: one for solar panels that may detach during transit and another for incorrectly tightened seat bases.
  • Winnebago: Certain 2026–2027 Solis models have an incorrectly routed LP hose, which presents a significant fire hazard.
  • Storyteller Overland: Multiple 2023 models, including the Beast Mode, Classic, and Stealth, are being recalled for coolant lines that were improperly routed, potentially causing a total loss of drive power.
  • Braun Corporation: A recall for 2026 RAM ProMaster vans notes that rear benches may have been installed without the necessary seat legs.

Commercial and Transit Fleets

  • Nova Bus and New Flyer: Both transit manufacturers have issued recalls for electronic failures. Nova Bus units may suffer from control unit shutdowns, while New Flyer XE40 buses may have speedometers that fail to illuminate.
  • Hexagon Purus: The 2025–2026 Tern RC8 is under recall because the digital display may show inaccurate air brake pressure readings.

What Owners Should Do

Federal law requires that all recall-related repairs be performed free of charge at authorized dealerships.

To check if your specific vehicle is impacted, owners should visit the NHTSA Recall Look-up Tool and enter their 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate information. If an open recall is found, owners are urged to contact their local dealer immediately to schedule a repair.
