City of Bedford announces closures and voter transportation for Election Day

BEDFORD – In observance of Election Day, the City of Bedford has announced several schedule changes for municipal offices and services effective Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

While some administrative operations will pause to allow for the democratic process, essential transit and sanitation services will continue with specific adjustments.

City Office Closures and Transit

  • Administrative Offices: All City of Bedford offices will be closed on Tuesday, May 5.
  • TASC Services: TASC buses will remain operational and will run according to their regularly scheduled routes.

Sanitation and Compost Schedule

Residents are advised of the following updates to waste collection:

  • Trash Pickup: All Tuesday trash routes will be collected as regularly scheduled on May 5.
  • Compost Pickup: Compost collection will be delayed by one day, shifting to Wednesday, May 6.

Free Rides to the Polls

To ensure all citizens have the opportunity to cast their ballots, the city is offering specialized transportation assistance through TASC.

Citizens needing a ride to their designated polling location may contact TASC at 275-1633. To secure a ride, residents must follow these requirements:

  • Call Ahead: A 24-hour advance notice is required for all appointments.
  • Booking Hours: Appointments must be made between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. before Election Day.
