Airport Operations Center dispatchers responded to a phone call from 38-year-old Ashley Michelle Kidd and located her with airport cameras. Dispatchers attempted to keep her on the call while airport police were en route to her location. However, during the call, the Kidd became despondent and began to travel away from the location and across the four lanes of vehicle traffic on the upper level of the terminal drive. There she climbed the retaining wall and fell 50 feet to the grassy area below.

Airport public safety personnel reached her within moments. But despite continuous medical intervention, she did not survive.

“Our officers and fire crews responded immediately and worked together through CPR and AED support, and every measure available to us,” said Keith Berlen, IAA senior director of operations and public safety. “We are all deeply saddened that those efforts could not change the outcome.”

The IAA extends its condolences to her family and loved ones.
