BEDFORD – Bloomington South will officially join the Hoosier Hills Conference for athletic competition, in all sports, starting with the 2027-28 school season.

South will join current HHC members Bedford North Lawrence, Columbus East, Floyd Central, Jeffersonville, Jennings County, New Albany and Seymour. It’s the first HHC expansion since 1996, when Seymour joined the league. Madison was the latest school to leave the HHC.

The HHC was established in 1972 with founding members Bedford, East, Jennings and Madison.

“Bloomington South would like to thank all the members of HHC for this opportunity,” South athletic director J.R. Holmes said. “It is a strong conference traditionally, and we hope to add to their rich tradition. We are excited to begin this new conference in 2027-28.”

South was previously a member of Conference Indiana.

“It is exciting to add Bloomington South to the HHC,” said Jeff Callahan, the former BNL athletic director and the new commissioner of the HHC. “I have been involved with the HHC as an athlete, coach, athletic director, and a fan. The HHC is a great athletic conference and it just got better.”
