BLOOMINGTON — As the 2026 Bloomington Farmers’ Market season gains momentum, the Monroe County Democratic Party has announced it will once again be a mainstay in the market’s popular “Information Alley.” Organizers are currently seeking volunteers to help staff the booth throughout the summer months.

The initiative aims to foster community connection by providing a space where residents can engage with local party representatives, share concerns, and learn more about the party’s platform in an informal, outdoor setting.
Party organizers describe the volunteer experience as a rewarding way to build local “resilience and resistance” while reconnecting with neighbors.
“Meeting old friends and making new acquaintances while building community is incredibly fulfilling,” the party stated in its volunteer call. “It’s about fostering those connections that make Monroe County strong.”
Volunteer Shifts and Contact Information
To ensure a consistent presence throughout the market day, volunteering is divided into two manageable time slots. The party is looking for individuals to assist during the following shifts:
- Early Shift: 7:45 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
- Late Shift: 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Those interested in representing the Monroe County Democrats at the market are encouraged to contact Ed Robertson to schedule. Interested parties can sign up via the following methods by emailing hq@monroedems.org or texting 812-340-4523.
The Information Alley remains a central hub for civic engagement at the market, allowing various local organizations to interface directly with the thousands of patrons who visit Showers Common every Saturday morning.
