MITCHELL — The Lick Creek Band, a regional staple known for its intricate vocal harmonies and diverse acoustic repertoire, will perform at the historic Mitchell Opera House on April 18. The performance is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., with doors opening at 6:15 p.m.

Since 1993, the Lick Creek Band has entertained audiences across Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. The ensemble delivers a unique blend of rock, pop, jazz, and original compositions, all anchored by a traditional acoustic sound. The group’s most distinctive feature is its three lead vocalists, who alternate roles and provide tight, layered harmonies across various musical styles.
The band features a lineup of seasoned musicians and songwriters:
- Bill Wheeler provides a smooth tenor voice and is the primary arranger for the group’s signature vocal style. He also contributes rhythm guitar on an acoustic flattop.
- Bill Nevels handles lead guitar duties on both acoustic and electric instruments. A baritone vocalist, Nevels is known for his melodic, “on the fly” improvisational solos.
- Alice Wootton brings a background in musical theater and jazz to the group. Her soulful alto voice extends the band’s range into jazz standards and pop-friendly arrangements of classic love songs.
- Eric Harmon rounds out the sound on the upright bass and ukulele. A student of music theory and Brazilian melodies, Harmon also serves as the band’s primary sound technician.
Tickets for the event are $18 for adults and $10 for children aged 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased online at mitchelloperahouse.com or through Humanitix. Local attendees can also purchase tickets with cash or check at ACE in Mitchell, or at the ticket booth on the night of the event via cash, check, or card.
