INDIANA — The Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR) has announced a significant opportunity for taxpayers to clear outstanding debts. Starting July 15, 2026, the state will launch Tax Amnesty 2026, a limited-time program designed to help individuals and businesses get back into full tax compliance.

Partnering with the United Collection Bureau (UCB), the DOR will offer a two-month window—running through September 15, 2026—for eligible participants to settle their accounts under highly favorable terms.
For those who qualify, the program provides a “clean slate” by waiving several financial burdens typically associated with late payments:
- 100% Waiver of all related penalties.
- 100% Waiver of accumulated interest.
- 100% Waiver of collection fees.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for these waivers, the outstanding tax liabilities must be for tax periods that ended before January 1, 2024.
Beginning May 18, 2026, the DOR will launch an online eligibility lookup tool. This will allow taxpayers to verify exactly which liabilities qualify for the program before the payment window opens in July.
How to Participate
Taxpayers who believe they owe back taxes are encouraged to visit the official Tax Amnesty 2026 webpage. for detailed information on eligible tax types and payment procedures.
Officials stress that this is a “limited-time opportunity.” Once the September 15 deadline passes, all waived penalties, interest, and fees will be reinstated for any remaining unpaid balances.
