BEDFORD – The city of Bedford is hosting a Spring Clean Sweep from Monday, April 20, through Monday, April 27. During this event, residential items that are not normally picked up through regular trash services are permitted. These items include old tires in limited amounts, appliances, construction materials, and carpet. Extra household trash must be bagged and placed in a separate pile from the other cleanup items.

Residents can also access several other sanitation services during the spring season. The leaf vacuum truck service will run from Monday, April 6, to Friday, April 17. For this service, leaves should be raked into loose piles within three feet of the curb and should not be bagged or placed in the roadway. Additionally, green yard waste toters are available through the compost truck service, which runs from Monday, April 6, through Friday, October 30.
Courtesy secured document shredding is also available for city residents through Shredding and Storage Unlimited. This service is offered at the Utilities Department located at 1614 L Street from 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., Monday through Friday. Residents may call the Street and Sanitation Department at (812) 279-9222 or submit an online work order to request services.
