INDIANA— Anyone who has ever wanted to grow their own food but didn’t know where to start will soon have the opportunity to learn the basics during a free, live virtual gardening class designed specifically for beginners.

The “Get Your Garden Started” event will take place on Tuesday, April 28, at 9:00 a.m. CST via Zoom. The 90-minute interactive webinar will guide participants through the essential steps of starting and maintaining a successful garden—even with little space or no prior experience.
Whether someone has a backyard, balcony, patio, or small raised bed, the class will provide practical, easy-to-follow strategies for growing fresh food at home.

“Many people want to start gardening but feel overwhelmed by where to begin,” Beats, Beds, Browns Founder Joe Skibbie says. “This class breaks the process down into simple steps so anyone can start growing their own food with confidence.”
During the session, participants will learn how to plan a garden, improve soil quality, choose the right location for planting, and maintain healthy plants throughout the growing season.
Topics covered will include:
- Planning Your Garden – Understanding growing zones, selecting the right location, and designing an effective layout
- Soil & Planting Basics – Testing and improving soil, choosing seeds, and planting successfully
