BEDFORD — As the seasons change, Cresthaven Funeral Home and Memory Gardens is preparing for its annual grounds maintenance transition. Management announced this week that the cemetery will officially move to its Spring/Summer protocols starting this Saturday.

To ensure the grounds remain well-manicured and to prevent damage to personal mementos during the mowing season, the funeral home is asking families to tidy up their loved ones’ final resting places this week.
Families are requested to have all non-compliant items removed by the end of the day on Friday, March 27th. The new maintenance schedule and enforcement of flower placement rules will begin promptly on Saturday, March 28th.

Guidelines for Grave Maintenance
To assist the mowing crews and maintain the safety of the equipment, the following items must be removed from gravesites:
- Shepherd’s Hooks: These can pose a significant hazard to mowing machinery.
- Solar Lights & Decorative Stakes: Any items protruding from the ground that could be run over must be cleared.
- Existing Floral Arrangements: If you wish to save any flowers currently in vases or placed around the headstones, please remove them by Friday.
- Ground Decor: Loose items placed on or around the graves that are not permanently affixed.
The transition to the Spring/Summer schedule is a standard procedure designed to allow groundskeepers to maintain the beauty and dignity of the cemetery efficiently. Items left on the grass can be accidentally damaged by mowers or can become projectiles, posing a safety risk to staff and visitors alike.
“Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep the gardens beautiful for all families,” Cresthaven Funeral Home shared in their announcement.
