VINCENNES — High school seniors in Southwest Indiana have until April 2nd to apply for the Judith K. Bobe Scholarship, a unique financial aid opportunity offered by Pace Community Action Agency, Inc.

The scholarship is specifically designed to support students who began their educational journey in one of Pace’s Head Start programs. To be eligible, applicants must be graduating seniors who previously attended Head Start in Daviess, Greene, Knox, or Sullivan counties.
Honoring a Legacy of Service
The scholarship is named in honor of the late Judith K. Bobe, who passed away in May 2025 after a distinguished 40-year career with Pace. Bobe started as a teacher in 1966 and eventually served as the agency’s Head Start Director. She was a tireless advocate for families, even once spending two days living in a cardboard box to raise awareness and empathy for those experiencing homelessness.
Application Requirements
Pace typically awards two $500 scholarships annually to assist students transitioning to accredited colleges, universities, or technical/trade schools.
Interested students must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Standing: Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Essay: Submit a paragraph describing an event that shaped them, or an essay on how Head Start influenced their education.
- Documentation: Provide a high school transcript verified by a school official.
Applications must be received (not postmarked) by the Pace office in Vincennes or via email by the April 2nd deadline. Winners are expected to be announced by the end of May.
