Pet policy changes for the Indiana Child Mental Health Wraparound Program

INDIANA – The Division of Mental Health and Addiction announces the following policy and procedure changes to the Child Mental Health Wraparound program.

These changes will become effective on April 5, 2026.

  • Pets are not permitted on-site during the delivery of any CMHW services. This requirement applies to all service settings, including but not limited to Facility-Based Respite.
  • This restriction does not apply to service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy animals are not considered service animals under the ADA and are included in the pet restriction above

This change is being implemented to support participant safety, reduce allergy and exposure risks, and maintain a consistent service environment across all CMHW programs. Providers should review their current practices and make any necessary operational adjustments to ensure compliance by the effective date.
