INDIANA — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a series of urgent recall notices this week, affecting a wide range of vehicles from luxury SUVs and heavy-duty trucks to popular motorcycles and school buses.
If you own any of the vehicles listed below, federal law entitles you to a free repair at an authorized dealership.
Major Passenger Vehicle Recalls
Several top-selling models are facing critical mechanical and electrical issues that could lead to accidents or engine failure.
- Nissan Rogue (2023–2025): Two separate recalls have been issued. One concerns potential complete engine failure (Recall 26V080), while the other involves electronic throttle body gears that may break, causing a sudden loss of power.
- GM Trucks & SUVs (2020–2022): A widespread issue with the transmission control valve has prompted recalls for the Chevrolet Silverado/Sierra (1500, 2500, 3500) and the 2022 Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Tahoe/Suburban, and GMC Yukon. This defect can cause the rear wheels to lock up unexpectedly.
- Lexus LX (2025–2026): Toyota’s luxury division is recalling newer LX models due to transmission damage that could result in a total loss of drive power.
- Cadillac LYRIQ (2024): Owners of the electric SUV are being alerted to a potential failure of the rearview camera display.
Motorcycle Safety Concerns
Both Harley-Davidson and Triumph have issued recalls for popular enthusiast models due to structural and fire risks.
| Manufacturer | Models | Primary Issue |
| Harley-Davidson | RH1250S (2021–2026) | Upper Triple Clamp fracture risk. |
| Triumph | Bonneville, Scrambler, Street Twin (2022–2024) | Alternator wiring may short circuit and overheat. |
Commercial & Specialty Vehicles
Safety alerts were also extended to transit and service vehicles, including school buses.
- Thomas Built Buses: The Saf-T-Liner EFX and HDX models (2023–2026) are under recall because a heater hose may leak hot coolant into the passenger compartment.
- Winnebago Navion/View (2020–2023): Owners of these RVs are warned that the rear roof cap may detach while driving.
- International Motors: Certain 2026–2027 MV models may experience a failure where brakes do not activate properly while using Adaptive Cruise Control.
NHTSA urges all vehicle owners to take the following steps immediately:
Locate your 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (usually found on your registration or the driver’s side dashboard) and enter it into the NHTSA Recall Look-up Tool.
If your vehicle is affected, call your local dealership to schedule a repair. Manufacturers are required by law to fix these safety defects at no cost to the owner.
