WASHINGTON — Basketball fans and healthcare supporters will have a new reason to celebrate this spring as the Daviess Community Hospital (DCH) Foundation launches its inaugural Hoops for Healthcare fundraiser.
The all-day March Madness watch party is scheduled for Friday, March 20, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the National Guard Armory, located at 500 NE 6th Street in Washington. The event replaces the Foundation’s long-standing Kentucky Oaks Derby Gala with a high-energy, community-focused format.

Attendees can expect a full immersion into the opening round of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, with live games broadcast on multiple televisions throughout the venue.
The family-friendly event will feature:
- Live Broadcasts: Non-stop coverage of March Madness action.
- Interactive Fun: Basketball-themed mini-games and activities.
- Silent Auction: An opportunity to bid on gift baskets, certificates, and unique items.
- Food & Drink: A variety of concessions and beverages available for purchase.
Angie Steiner, DCH Foundation Director, says the event gives the community a fun way to enjoy March Madness while supporting the patients and families who count on Daviess Community Hospital and the Core Center for care close to home.
All proceeds from the event are earmarked for the purchase of advanced rehabilitation therapy equipment at Daviess Community Hospital and the CORE Center.
The CORE Center provides a wide range of critical outpatient therapies, including:
- Physical & Occupational Therapy: Aiding in recovery from surgeries, strokes, or traumatic injuries.
- Neurological Rehab: Specialized care for conditions like Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis.
- Pediatric Services: Helping local children meet developmental milestones.
The new equipment will help local patients regain their strength and independence without needing to travel far from home.
