MONTGOMERY — A major infrastructure gap in southern Indiana has officially been bridged. RTC Communications announced this week the completion of a significant fiber-to-the-home expansion, bringing ultra-fast, “future-proof” internet to nearly 500 residents in the West Boggs Lake area.

The project, which targets eastern Daviess County and western Martin County, provides residents with access to symmetrical, multi-gigabit broadband speeds that far exceed typical residential connections.
The expansion was made possible through a public-private partnership involving the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA). The project utilized nearly $1 million from the state’s Next Level Connections (NLC) Round IV Grant program, which was matched by a $1.5 million capital investment from RTC Communications.
While the initial timeline for the grant deployment was set for two years, RTC leaders noted that the project was completed ahead of schedule, with service fully active by the end of 2025.
The new network utilizes RTC’s Intelecyn™ broadband technology. Unlike traditional cable or DSL, which often has much slower upload speeds, this fiber network is symmetrical. This means a “5-gig” plan offers high-speed fiber service for both downloading and uploading.
Key benefits for the West Boggs community include:
- Zero-Lag Connectivity: Support for simultaneous 4K streaming, professional-grade video conferencing, and competitive gaming across multiple devices.
- Economic Development: High-speed infrastructure is a known driver for property values and is essential for attracting new housing developments and small businesses to rural areas.
- Scalability: The fiber-optic lines are built to handle future demand. Increasing speeds in the coming years will likely require only equipment updates at the home rather than digging new lines.
This completion is part of a broader mission by the Montgomery-based cooperative. Over the last several years, RTC has invested more than $50 million into fiber projects across Daviess, Martin, Lawrence, and Knox counties.

“This wasn’t a promise—it’s a delivered result,” said Kirk Lehman, CEO of RTC Communications. “We didn’t just build fiber; we built certainty for a community that has been waiting a long time.”
