“Creepy and Kooky”: Loogootee High School to stage ‘The Addams Family’ musical

LOOGOOTEE — The snapping of fingers will soon echo through the Loogootee High School auditorium as the theater department prepares to bring the dark and delightful world of The Addams Family to life this March.

Music director Lindsey Walton noted that the production has been a long-requested title among students and the community alike. “It’s the perfect fit for this specific cast,” Walton said, highlighting the unique energy the performers bring to the classic characters.

The production is a massive undertaking, featuring nearly 70 students ranging from 7th to 12th grade. This multi-generational cast provides a wide array of talent for the show’s eccentric “Ancestors” and lead roles.

  • Dalton Strange (Senior) will lead the family as the suave and conflicted Gomez Addams.
  • Camilla Wilson (Senior) takes on the iconic role of Wednesday Addams, whose burgeoning romance with a “normal” boy drives the show’s comedic plot.

Rehearsals and choreography are already in full swing, with parent and community volunteers scheduled to begin set construction in the coming days to transform the stage into the famous macabre mansion.

Fans of the kooky clan will have four opportunities to catch a performance:

DateTime

Support the Show: BBQ Fundraiser

Staging a production of this scale—complete with elaborate costumes and a massive set—requires significant funding. To support these costs, the musical program is hosting a BBQ Fundraiser on Sunday, February 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the St. John’s Center in Loogootee. On the menu will be sandwiches, various sides and homemade desserts.

Community members are encouraged to attend the fundraiser to help ensure the students have everything they need for a “mysterious and spooky” opening night.
