The session served as a reflection on the club’s busy winter schedule, highlighting several key projects that provided direct support to Lawrence County residents.

Winter Service Successes

The organization reported significant milestones from their recent charitable efforts, including:

  • Holiday Outreach: The club successfully donated Christmas meal baskets to 20 local families in need, ensuring a festive holiday for neighbors.
  • Comfort for Seniors: Members showcased their “hands-on” approach to service by hand-making fleece lap robes, which were presented to residents at the CORE Nursing Home.
  • Fundraising: The group reviewed the profits from their annual fall nut fundraiser, which provides the necessary capital to fund their various community grants and projects.

Ongoing Recognition and Commitment

Altrusa members were specifically recognized during the meeting for their dedicated volunteer hours at the Lawrence County Museum. This spirit of service continues as the chapter officially submitted applications for district-level awards, seeking recognition for the impact of their local programming.

The club remains committed to several ongoing projects, including:

  • Supporting LARC (Lawrence Adult Resources and Corporate) and the Lawrence County Museum.
  • Distributing magazines to area nursing homes.
  • Maintaining the Avoca Little Free Library.

Altrusa is an international volunteer organization that focuses on community service, literacy, and leadership. The Bedford chapter welcomes new members who are passionate about making a tangible difference in their community.
