Indiana State Police Lafayette District mourns the passing of retired K-9 Jordy

LAFAYETTE – The Indiana State Police Lafayette District is saddened to announce the passing of retired K-9 Jordy, who passed away yesterday due to medical reasons.

K-9 Jordy, a German Shepherd, faithfully served the Indiana State Police from 2015 until his retirement in February 2025. As a dual-purpose K-9 alongside his handler, Trooper Jared McQueary, Jordy was trained in narcotics detection, suspect apprehension, tracking, and handler protection. Throughout his career, he assisted in numerous investigations, helped locate missing persons, tracked fleeing suspects, and removed illegal drugs from Indiana communities.

Following his retirement, Jordy spent his remaining time with Trooper McQueary and his family, where he transitioned from police work to a life of comfort and companionship. Surrounded by those he loved, Jordy remained a loyal and cherished member of the McQueary family.

The Indiana State Police extends its heartfelt condolences to Trooper McQueary and his family and honors retired K-9 Jordy for his years of dedicated service and the legacy he leaves behind.
