Governor Braun announces federal approval of Indiana’s broadband expansion plan

INDIANA – Indiana’s plan to expand broadband service through the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program has been approved by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). This historic investment of more than $483 million will be Indiana’s largest to date and emphasizes Governor Braun’s commitment to ensuring that all Hoosiers have reliable broadband access.

Governor Mike Braun

“Our state and the Indiana Broadband Office have been working diligently to implement the BEAD Program and get service to Hoosiers who need it as quickly as possible,” Governor Mike Braun said. “Broadband expansion is foundational for economic development, education, healthcare, and many aspects of everyday life. With this approval, we are excited to move on to the next steps with our internet service providers and reach the goal of every Hoosier having access to high-speed, reliable broadband.”

Internet service providers will invest an additional $384 million to serve over 120,000 households and businesses across the state. The IBO expects buildouts to begin in 2026.
