MITCHELL — Country music fans are in for a treat as the soulful and authentic is set to perform live at the Mitchell Opera House on Saturday, December 6th, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
Griggs, known for hits like his debut single “You Won’t Ever Be Lonely,” promises an evening of music rooted in a deep, personal history and diverse influences. The Louisiana native describes his musical foundation as a “pot of gumbo,” blending Jerry Lee Lewis, Waylon Jennings, Bill Monroe, hardcore blues, rock ‘n roll, and a touch of jazz.
A Life Forged in Song
Andy Griggs’ journey to Nashville, where he arrived in 1995, was paved with both major triumphs and profound sorrow. Music served as a crucial source of comfort and inspiration after the passing of his father, a church praise-and-worship leader, and later, his older brother and hero, Mason.
“When I jumped into the pool of music, I jumped into the deep end and never came out,” Griggs often quotes, a testament to music’s central role in his life.
After a stint with the bluegrass band ‘Jerry and Tammy Sullivan,’ Griggs signed with RCA and quickly became a major force in country music, racking up two No. 1 singles, five Top 5s, and four additional Top 10s.
Despite his commercial success, Griggs felt a crucial part of his artistic self was missing. He came to a musical crossroad, realizing his music was not fully expressing his heart and soul.
“I’m at that point in my life, where I either want to make a difference with a song and a worn out guitar or I need to find something else to do,” he explains. “You either DO or you DON’T.”
This awakening spurred Griggs to take control of his sound, leading him to write and produce most of his own music. This shift has resulted in a sound that critics and fans recognize as his most honest and complete expression yet.
