JASPER — Purdue University Extension in Dubois County is now accepting applications for a full-time 4-H Youth Development Extension Educator, a position that plays a central role in shaping the next generation of Indiana’s young leaders.
Extension Educators serve as the bridge between Purdue’s land-grant research and the everyday needs of Hoosier communities. In Dubois County, the selected candidate will lead education programs, build partnerships, and guide local youth through the county’s 4-H clubs, special interest groups, and community initiatives.

The role focuses heavily on youth development, helping young people become resilient, capable learners while supporting them as they set goals, build life skills, and work toward their future. The educator will also work with community partners to offer programs centered on science, citizenship, and healthy living.
A major component of the job includes recruiting, training, and mentoring adult volunteers who help sustain the county’s 4-H efforts. Strong communication skills, leadership ability, and a passion for community engagement are essential.
Applicants should hold a master’s degree; candidates with a bachelor’s degree and relevant experience will be considered. Experience in education, youth programming, volunteer development, or organizational leadership is strongly preferred. The position requires a valid driver’s license, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and flexibility for evening and weekend work.
Purdue Extension notes that this position may be filled at either the Educator or Senior Educator level, depending on experience. The role offers the opportunity to design innovative programming, collaborate with community stakeholders, and directly impact the lives of families and youth across Dubois County.
Applications must be submitted online through Purdue University.
