PATOKA — A deadly house fire that was reported as involving entrapment is currently under investigation in Gibson County, Indiana.
The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. at a residence in the 100 block of southwest Mill Street in Patoka, according to Gibson County Sheriff Vanoven.
Sheriff Vanoven confirmed that the initial report indicated a fire with entrapment, prompting a significant emergency response. In total, 17 personnel responded to the scene.
The homeowner confirmed that one person died in the blaze.
Multiple agencies are jointly investigating the cause of the fatal fire. Those involved include the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Patoka Police Department, the Gibson County Coroner’s Office, and the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased or the official cause of the fire as the investigation remains active.
