Altrusa of Bedford supports community with donations and service plans

BEDFORD — The Altrusa International of Bedford club gathered on October 13 at the Southland Church of Christ Annex for their monthly meeting, focusing on current community needs and future service plans.

The featured speaker was Donnie Hall from Life Pantry, who provided a history of the organization and detailed the services it offers to people in need throughout the community. Altrusa members showed their support by bringing in food donations, and Club member Sara Kern presented Mr. Hall with a monetary donation from the organization.

The club also outlined several upcoming service initiatives:

  • Agape House Trunk-or-Treat: Nina Doan will purchase candy for Agape House to distribute during their forthcoming Halloween events.
  • Salvation Army Bell Ringing: Members will be ringing the bell for the Salvation Army at Walmart on November 28 and 29.
  • Christmas Food Baskets: The club will assemble and distribute Christmas food baskets on December 20 at Southland Church of Christ.

Additionally, Emeritus member Patty Craig was recognized and presented with a lap robe and a shawl by Becky Bailey and Sara Kern.

The next Altrusa meeting is scheduled for November 10 and will feature a Thanksgiving pitch-in, beginning slightly earlier than usual at 5:00 p.m.
