Indiana State Library to host ‘Introduction to Native American Research’ Lunch and Learn

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana State Library (ISL) has announced the next event in its 2025 Lunch and Learn Series: “Introduction to Native American Research.” The session will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., and is designed to equip attendees with the fundamental tools for tracing Native American ancestry and history.

Sarah Pfundstein, the ISL Genealogy Librarian, will present the one-hour program. Pfundstein will guide participants through the fundamental methodologies of Native American research and highlight essential sources available at the Indiana State Library and elsewhere.

The event will be offered in a hybrid format to accommodate all interested participants:

  • In-Person: The session will take place in the History Reference Room at the Indiana State Library. Seating is limited, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch.
  • Virtual: Those who cannot attend in person can register for the virtual event to join remotely.

Registration is required for both attendance options. The program is eligible for 1 LEU (Library Education Unit).

For those attending in person, parking validation will be available. Attendees must park in the Senate Avenue parking garage directly across from the library and bring their ticket in for validation.

The Indiana State Library is committed to accessibility. Individuals requiring an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate, should contact Rosanna Coy, the Indiana State Library’s ADA Coordinator, at RCoy@spd.in.gov or 317-409-9758 no later than 48 hours in advance of the event.
