SEYMOUR — The Seymour Department of Public Works has announced that its annual curbside leaf collection program will begin on Monday. Residents are advised to prepare their leaf piles according to a simple schedule tied to their regular trash collection day.

To ensure collection, residents should place their leaf piles out on the day after their normal trash pickup day. For those whose trash is collected on Fridays, leaf pickup will occur on the following Monday.
The department stressed that compliance with placement guidelines is crucial for efficient service:
- Placement: Leaf piles must be within four feet of the curb.
- Obstructions: Piles must be kept clear of vehicles, fire hydrants, fences, and any other obstructions.
Officials strictly enforce a “leaves only” rule. Piles containing any debris will be left uncollected.
Residents must ensure their piles are free of trash, sticks, limbs, flowers, pumpkins, gourds, or other yard waste. This collection service is specifically for fallen leaves and is not intended for general yard cleanup.
The leaf pickup operation will continue for an extended period, typically running until the leaves finish falling, which is usually around mid-December.
For any questions regarding the leaf pickup schedule or guidelines, residents are encouraged to call the Department of Public Works at 812-524-1100.
