Indiana Arts Commission launches “Work In Progress: Exchange Labs” to boost local artists

INDIANA — The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) is inviting artists across the state to participate in its “Work In Progress: Exchange Labs,” a program that provides structure, support, and funding for their creative careers.

The IAC’s Exchange Labs are monthly, in-person convenings that act as “creative check-ins” for artists of all disciplines. The goal is to help artists gain traction in their projects and connect with peers and leaders in the local arts community.

What the Labs Offer

According to the IAC, the Exchange Labs provide four key benefits for participating artists:

  1. Connect with Creatives and Local Arts Leaders: Artists can network and build relationships with fellow creatives and established arts leaders in their area.
  2. Move Ideas Forward: The collaborative environment helps artists discuss topics of interest, exchange strategies, and develop concrete steps for their projects.
  3. Advance Your Creative Career: The labs focus on actionable steps to help artists take their careers to the next level.
  4. Support Grant Opportunity: A major draw for the program is the opportunity to apply for a Micro-Support Grant to fund creative projects.

Artists who attend the Exchange Labs during the fall cycle—specifically in September and October—become eligible to apply for this valuable grant opportunity.

How to Join

The Work In Progress: Exchange Labs take place monthly in five different areas across the state to ensure accessibility for local artists.

The IAC is actively accepting applications for the fall cycle of the program. Artists interested in participating and becoming eligible for the Micro-Support Grant are encouraged to submit their applications now.
