BLOOMINGTON — The City of Bloomington will host a grand reopening ceremony today, Monday, October 6, for the newly renovated and expanded Fire Station No. 3 on Indiana University’s campus.
The event is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at the station, located at 810 N. Woodlawn Ave. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be followed by guided tours, with fire department personnel available for interviews. Members of the public and media are invited to attend.
Speakers will include Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson, City Council President Hopi Stosberg, Fire Chief Roger Kerr, and IU Bloomington Chancellor David Reingold.
Fire Station No. 3 has served Bloomington’s north side and IU’s campus since 1963. The recent upgrades were part of a package of public safety projects funded through a municipal bond approved by the Bloomington City Council in 2022.
Paid parking for the event is available at the Forrest Avenue Parking Garage near the Luddy Center for Artificial Intelligence at 1015 E. 11th St.
