BEDFORD — The Limestone Capital Half-Marathon sponsored by McIntyre Brothers returns to Bedford on Saturday, Oct. 4, with distances for all ages and abilities. While the half-marathon and 5K are the centerpieces of the event, organizers say the one-mile run and walk is the most relaxed and approachable way for the community to take part.
Registration is open at runsignup.com. Participants who register by the end of this week will receive a personalized bib with their name printed on it for race day. Early registration is also recommended to guarantee a T-shirt. Entry fees are set to encourage youth participation, with registration for any race just $15 for those age 14 and under.

This weekend of fun all begins with the annual Expo, brought to you by Bedford Federal Savings Bank, on Friday, Oct. 3, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Downtown Depot. Contestants can pick up their bib and event T-shirt, preview the course, grab a snack, and enjoy live music from Southern Indiana’s Classic Hits 105.5 WQRK. Not registered for the walk or a run, then join the fun and register at the Expo!

Kelly Smith, race director, said the one-mile event is designed for everyone, from families and casual walkers to competitive runners. “This one-mile event is perfect for anyone to get involved,” Smith said on an episode of WBIW’s Talk of the Town. “Whether you want to try to set the course record or want to bring your pet and enjoy the course at a walk, you are so welcome.”
The Limestone Capital Half-Marathon, brought to you by McIntyre Brothers, will once again feature the School Challenge, which encourages students in grades K-6 to take part. Every registration adds points to each participating school’s total, with the winning school earning a traveling trophy that passes from year to year.

Ainsley’s Angels, a national nonprofit dedicated to ensuring everyone can experience the joy of endurance events, will once again take part in the Limestone Capital Half-Marathon. The group pairs athletes with special needs with runners who help them navigate the course in specially designed racing chairs, adding an inspiring and inclusive element to the day.
All contestants who cross the finish line in any of the races will receive a medal. Awards will also be presented in several categories, but organizers emphasize that every participant will be recognized for completing their event.
All races begin at the Milwaukee Depot, located at the corner of 14th and J Streets in downtown Bedford, with the one-mile starting at 8:15 a.m. Organizers say the event is not only a chance to exercise but also an opportunity to enjoy the fall atmosphere and community spirit that make the race one of Bedford’s signature gatherings.
