COLUMBUS – The Bartholomew County Memorial for Veterans will be the site of a ceremony tomorrow evening to honor prisoners of war (POWs) and those missing in action (MIA). This marks the 11th consecutive year for the National POW/MIA Recognition Day event.
The ceremony is scheduled for Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the memorial, which is located on the courthouse lawn. The event is free and open to the public.

Attendees can expect a program that includes:
- A presentation of the colors and a rifle volley by the American Legion Post 24 Honor Guard.
- Performances by the Columbus Indiana Children’s Choir, David Maurey, Michael Schmeltz, and the Southern Indiana Pipes and Drums.
Olivia McQueary will read the names of the 62 POWs and MIAs from the local area. Additionally, MC Zack Ellison will share the stories of two individuals, Ernest “Jack” Hogan and Robert E. Hogan.
