BEDFORD — A local observance of Bells Across America will be held on Wednesday, September 17, at 4 p.m. to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution.

This annual event honors the moment when Philadelphia’s church bells first rang out on September 17, 1787, to celebrate the newly signed Constitution.
The local ceremony, hosted by the Lawrence County America 250 Committee, will take place at the base of the Miss Indiana statue on the west side of the Lawrence County Courthouse grounds in Bedford.
All local churches, public sites, and schools are also encouraged to join the celebration by ringing their bells at 4 p.m. to mark the occasion.
