Cook Group CEO Carl Cook named to Forbes 400 richest people list

BLOOMINGTON — Carl Cook, CEO of the Bloomington-based medical device manufacturer Cook Group, has been included on Forbes’ list of the 400 richest people in America for 2025.

Cook, 63, is ranked 103rd on the list and is recognized as the wealthiest person in Indiana. His net worth is estimated at $11.7 billion, an increase from his $10.7 billion valuation in 2024. Globally, Cook is ranked as the 244th richest person in the world.

He took over as CEO of the Cook Group in 2011, following the death of his father, who had founded the company in Bloomington in 1963. The company remains headquartered in the Indiana college town.

Herb Simon

Another Indiana resident, real estate tycoon Herb Simon, 90, also made the list with a net worth of $6.5 billion.
