INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Conservation Voters, Common Cause Indiana, and allied democracy organizations will deliver 6,600 petitions to state leaders, urging them to reject plans by Washington insiders to redraw Indiana’s Congressional maps mid-decade.
Indiana lawmakers are facing pressure from outside operatives to redraw maps just four years after the last redistricting process—without new census data. Hoosiers overwhelmingly oppose this cynical power grab, which would waste taxpayer dollars and erode trust in fair elections.

In 2021, Indiana held more than a dozen public hearings across all nine congressional districts. The resulting maps were transparent, balanced, and kept 84 of 92 counties whole. There were no legal challenges filed.Â
Recent polling has shown that a majority of Hoosiers don’t want a do-over; they want policymakers to focus on real challenges. The survey showed 52% of voters oppose reopening the maps, with 43% very opposed. After hearing arguments, opposition climbs to 60%. Voters reported wanting leaders to focus on the cost of living, energy prices, and property taxes instead.
