Arthritis Foundation offers free walking program

BLOOMINGTON — The Arthritis Foundation is offering a free community program to help people manage chronic pain and improve fitness through walking. The Walking With Ease Program is an evidence-based initiative that combines walking with health education, stretching, strengthening exercises, and motivational strategies.

Designed to alleviate chronic pain and social isolation, the program is structured for all fitness levels. Classes will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at the Switchyard Park Picnic Shelter, located near the playground. The program is split into two sessions: September 8 to October 17 and October 20 to November 26.

During each one-hour session, participants will participate in a warm-up, stretching, and a guided walk along the B-Line Trail. The length and difficulty of the walk will be customized for each individual, with participants walking for approximately 20 to 40 minutes per session.
