BEDFORD— Bedford Revitalization, Inc. (BRI) is proud to announce a refreshed vision for its annual Limestone Heritage Festival, aligning with both local tradition and national celebration. In a historic shift, the beloved downtown parade will move to July 4, 2026, taking place during the day to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.

“We are happy to bring the parade back to the 4th of July!” said Nathan Watson, BRI President. “We wanted to honor our country’s milestone in a way that brings our community together, builds partnership with the City of Bedford, and showcases Bedford’s unique contribution to American history through its limestone legacy.”

In addition to the parade’s new date, BRI will reposition the Limestone Heritage Festival to the first Saturday in June, beginning in 2026. This change highlights Bedford’s rich limestone heritage during Limestone Month, a statewide celebration of Indiana’s iconic stone industry. The first weekend in June is historically significant as it was when the Bicentennial festivities took place in Bedford in 1976.
The updated festival will feature:
- Fun, family-friendly activities
- Live music and local food vendors
- Educational exhibits and walking tours of historic limestone architecture
- Interactive stone carving demonstrations
- And so much more
In a departure from previous years, this festival will not conclude with a fireworks show. BRI invites residents, visitors, and history enthusiasts to mark their calendars for both events and join in honoring Bedford’s past while celebrating America’s future.
