City of Bedford’s annual Fall Clean Sweep Week is Sept. 22-27

BEDFORD — Bedford residents are reminded that the city’s Fall Clean Sweep Week is scheduled to begin Sept. 22.

The annual event, which runs through Sept. 27, provides residents with an opportunity to dispose of a variety of household items and materials that are not generally collected with regular trash.

According to a public notice, acceptable items for pickup include old tires, appliances, construction materials, and carpet. The service is for residential use only, and businesses will not have items picked up.

Extra household trash will also be collected, but it must be placed in a separate pile from the other Clean Sweep items. The notice reminds residents that extra household trash can also be picked up at any time by calling the department.

Residents who wish to have items picked up during Clean Sweep Week must call 812-279-9222 to get a work order.

Due to the high volume of requests during Clean Sweep Week, the department advises that pickups may take longer than usual. If a call is not answered, residents can leave a voicemail with their name, address, and a list of items to be picked up. The phone number for voicemails is 812-279-9222.
