INDIANA — The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has announced that the last free fishing day of the year will be held on September 27.
On this day, Indiana residents can fish the state’s public waters without needing a fishing license or a trout/salmon stamp. All other regulations, such as seasons, bag, and size limits, will still apply.

This event offers a great chance for people to learn how to fish, take their families fishing, or introduce a friend to the sport.
To help plan your fishing trip, the DNR offers two convenient tools:
- The Where To Fish map helps you find a new fishing spot.
- The Fishing Trip Planner assists you in charting a course after you answer a few questions about your preferences.
