Maurice ‘Reese’ Robert Heltenburg passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 21, 2025, after battling cancer.
Reese was born in Bloomington and lived in Bedford. He was a member of IATSE 618 Union and Class of 1983 BNL. He attended Lincoln Tech College in Indianapolis. Reese worked as an audio technician for the Office of University Events at Indiana University.Â
He was a loving son who took the time to care for his dear mother. Reese was a good storyteller, and he never left a detail out. He loved Van Halen and fishing. Reese is going to be missed dearly by his family, loving friends, and special caregivers.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Heltenburg; father, Boyd Heltenburg; brother, Jack Heltenburg; and nephew, Kevin Heltenburg. Survivors include niece Maranda Swallows, great-nephew Nova Swallows, and sister-in-law Debra Wood.
There will be a celebration of life for Reese on Friday, Sept. 26, from 3-5 p.m. at the I.U. Auditorium.
Cremation was chosen.
