ODON — Amentum and the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane), have broken ground on a new Radiation Combined Environment (RCE) Test Facility in Odon. This state-of-the-art site will be used to test microelectronics under extreme conditions to enhance the readiness of the U.S. Department of Defense.

The facility is a significant step forward in bolstering national defense and advancing microelectronics. It will provide a controlled environment that mimics real-world conflict scenarios to allow for comprehensive testing and validation of critical components.
“As our nation faces increasingly complex threats, the ability to test and validate microelectronics in the harshest conditions—conditions that mirror real-world conflict environments—is not just important; it’s essential,” said Mark Walter, president for the Engineering and Technology Business Group at Amentum. “With our decades of engineering and mission experience, we’re leading the charge by investing in the Crane innovation ecosystem and developing a critical capability that directly supports the warfighter.”
The project, which builds on more than 40 years of partnership between Amentum and NSWC Crane, is expected to create high-skill technical jobs and boost the Crane/WestGate innovation ecosystem.
