BLOOMINGTON — Indiana University’s athletic department has secured a new 20-year, $50 million naming rights agreement with Merchants Bank, following the football team’s successful run to last year’s College Football Playoff.

The deal, announced on Thursday, will rename the venue to Merchants Bank Field at Memorial Stadium. The bank’s name will be prominently displayed on the field and throughout the stadium. The new name will be in place for the Hoosiers’ season opener on August 30, when the 20th-ranked team hosts Old Dominion.
As part of the partnership, Merchants Bank has committed to providing no-cost financial literacy training for current and future student-athletes. This program is designed to help them manage the financial complexities of modern college sports, including revenue sharing and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals.
Head coach Cignetti led Indiana to a historic season in his first year, achieving a school-record 11 wins and earning the program’s first-ever playoff bid. The Hoosiers’ only losses came on the road against Ohio State, which went on to win the national championship, and against Notre Dame in the playoffs. Ohio State later defeated Notre Dame in the championship game.
